2024  auditions

Come spend the summer with us in the great "wild's" of Wyoming!

Cody is a small town with a population of around 9,000 but it has tons of history, charm, and is all about the Wild West.

Famous "Buffalo Bill" Cody, who our musical is about and town is named after, was instrumental in founding the town. Located just 50 miles from beautiful Yellowstone National Park and known as the "Rodeo Capital of the World"; Cody is a hotspot during the summer for tourists from all over the world. The Musical is staged at the Historic downtown Cody Theatre, across from the famous Irma Hotel that William F. Cody built and named after his daughter.

Awarded “Best Wild West Show” for 4 years by True West Magazine and TripAdvisor's Travelers Choice since 2020; this is not your average summer job opportunity! For over 25 years, Rocky Mountain School of the Arts, our arts school; and Rocky Mountain Dance Theatre, our non-profit performing arts organization has been in Cody, Wyoming. Elizabeth Fernandez, Founder and Executive Director, graduated with honors from the University of Northern Colorado where she received degrees in Dance Teaching/Movement Analysis and Dance Kinesiology. While at UNC, Elizabeth was a member of the University of Northern Colorado Dance Theatre and Colorado Dance Theatre. Born and raised in Cody, Wyoming; Elizabeth dreamed of producing a dancing show about the Wild West. In 2016, this dream became a reality with RMDT’s first summer production of "Wild West Spectacular" and in 2018 it became a full-fledged musical including well known songs accompanied by Cynthia Kaelberer, a well-versed local pianist and RMSA piano teacher. The production’s lighting designer, Charles Houghton and Scenic Designer, Casey Kearns now both freelance with backgrounds in college academia. Every year the cast continues to grow, and the show evolves, highlighting the talents of our performers. Being associated with a dance & arts school also offers unique opportunities for cast members to expand, challenge, and/or continue dance and musical theatre training themselves and/or teaching during the summer.
